Using AI To Optimize Internal Talent

The past year has seen companies such as Google utilize AI to help optimize their talent more effectively.  It’s the kind of service that is being offered to a wider range of companies via platforms such as InnerMobility, which is a new technology offered by Gloat.

The technology harvests various aspects of each person’s career, including their skills, past experiences and even future goals.  It uses this to propose new projects, jobs, mentors and so on that the platform believes will benefit their career.

“Ambitious employees present an enormous opportunity and challenge for your business.  True return on investment can be achieved by offering an array of enriching experiences,” the company explain. “After analyzing career patterns through AI and deep learning for many years, InnerMobility is the solution to develop talent and prevent turnover on all corporate levels. The platform provides almost instantaneous, personalized recommendations that help employees fulfill their potential, and managers fill positions. Ultimately, InnerMobility facilitates the perfect merger of the gig-economy, employee development, and internal recruitment to usher in the workplace of the future.”

Utilizing skills

The company believe their software facilitates the kind of project-based working that is popularly espoused by a number of management theorists today, which they believe will ultimately boost both employee engagement as well as skills utilization.

The logic behind the platform is quite evident, with lack of career development commonly cited as a reason for discontent in the workplace.  Being able to better match the talents employees have with projects internally, whilst also giving the right training and development opportunities is vital.

The challenge will be whether an AI-based platform can do the job successfully.  A number of InnerMobility customers seem to think it can, with Microsoft revealing that the technology has been a game changer in terms of how they manage their workforce.

Jeroen Wells, Executive Vice-President Human Resources at Unilever is also excited by the AI app and platform, “At Unilever we believe that skills are the currency that get you experiences for a purposeful career. InnerMobility by Gloat gives our people opportunities to build future-fit skills and experiences. It helps us to create a Unilever that is agile, with frictionless access to skills and talent.”
