We had the CMI Christmas bash last night, which combined with my leaving party meant a few mince pies were sunk and of course a bit of alcohol was consumed. There were people present with cameras so no doubt there will be a fair few drunken photos of the evening emerging over the coming days.
Turns out that this approach to photo sharing is quite remarkably popular. A study by MyMemory has revealed that around 75% of all photos tagged on Facebook involve someone drinking. 75 blooming percent!!
“We’re all guilty of going out and having a good time, but nowadays the photos inevitably catch up with us online, so we wanted to look at how much these photos dominate our presence on social media sites,” says Rebecca Huggler, co-founder of MyMemory, which conducted the study.
What's even scarier is that around 26% of those people have their photos open to everyone, so all and sundry can see their drunken adventures, even though many would much rather colleagues, future employers and so on did not see such pics.
Far be it for me to be a killjoy, but seriously, do people not do anything else that warrants a picture being taken of them?
Wow, I kinda figured it would be a lot, but 75% is an awful lot. That is pretty sad.
Yeah I was surprised it was quite so high as well.
To be honest I'm not surprised. Most of the Facebook photos I see when stalking people on there seem to be them at various parties.
