Principles of the open world

Fascinating talk here by the wonderful Don Trapscott on the open world and the principles that underpin it.  He outlines four key principles that support open-ness in society.

  1. Collaboration – the boundaries are coming down within organisations to enable organisations to collaborate, not only with those inside the institute but also with those from outside as well
  2. Transparency – the web has made information free, and with it has fundamentally changed the transparency of our institutions
  3. Sharing – there was a great study published last year that showed the value in sharing your intellectual property with others
  4. Empowerment – the distribution of knowledge and information is not now limited to those at the top of institutions or society, it’s now available to the majority

It’s a fascinating talk.  Have a look and let me know your thoughts in the comments.
