The mobile app market has seen unprecedented growth in the past few years, with millions of apps now flooding the market. The challenge with such an enormous marketplace is therefore determining good from bad.
We’ve seen such attempts emerge in areas such as healthcare, with bodies such as the National Health Service proposing a quality mark for the best and most reliable apps.
A similar service is being proposed in the educational app marketplace by new startup EnderMetrics. They aim to help to highlight the educational merits of a particular app by providing an analytics solution that is easy to add to any educational app.
They offer a cognitive analysis service that app developers can easily deploy in their apps to track the progress of users as they learn whatever subject the app is working in.
Suffice to say, the service is primarily aimed at developers so the analytics will only guide their performance internally rather than allow end users to better understand the performance of the app, but nevertheless, it’s a nice service.
It’s very straightforward to use, with a few lines of code added to the app that allows EnderMetrics to access data around the progress of each user.
This data is then presented to the developers via a dashboard, with the hope being that it provides insights into how well their app is helping users learn and develop new skills, whether those are creating new tings, remembering information or whatever else the app is designed to test.
The developers can then use this insight to tinker and tailor the app accordingly, thus hopefully improving the service offered to the end user.
The service does come with a user report functionality, so it is possible for the progress reports for each user to be sent to them, but I suspect the bulk of the usage will be around internal feedback.
You can learn more about them via their website or via their promo video below.
I'm a bit surprised that this isn't built in to be honest, but a nice service.
