2019 Christmas Lectures – Part 3 (The Gift Of Global Talent)

The final lecture I’m presenting to you over the festive period explores the free movement of people (and their ideas) from a macro perspective.

The lecture is delivered by Harvard’s William Kerr, who published The Gift of Global Talent earlier this year.  The lecture expands on his hypothesis in the book that migration has an indelible impact on society and the economy.

In a time in which immigration discussions are largely fueled by rhetoric rather than facts, he attempts to let evidence guide his thoughts.  It is a largely US-centric analysis, and doesn’t touch a great deal on the free movement of peoples across the EU, but nonetheless it’s an interesting analysis for anyone with an interest in the issue.

I hope you’ve enjoyed these lectures, and indeed have had a relaxing festive period more generally.
