The gamification of waking up in the morning

You need to get up in the morning, so set your alarm for a certain time.  The following morning you’re awoken by the sound of your alarm, you roll over turn the alarm off, and roll back to sleep again.

It’s something we’ve all done plenty of.  A Japanese company have taken a gamification approach to the whole situation.  They’ve developed an alarm clock that comes with a toy gun.  You set the alarm as usual, but in addition to the usual alarm sound, the clock creates a cross hair target in the air that you have to hit five times with your toy gun before the alarm sound stops.

Not sure how long it would take for the whole thing to lose its appeal, but it’s certainly an interesting way to get you out of bed in the morning.

nb, you can buy it online from Amazon. The reviews aren’t that great though so buyer beware!
