2018 Christmas Lectures – Part 2 (You And AI)

The broad theme of the lectures I’m introducing to you over this Christmas period is on the future of work, and the first was given by John Hagel on how technology can help us to re-humanize work.

The second lecture comes, rather fittingly, from the Royal Society, who have been doing a series of reports and research into the role of AI in society over the past year, most of which I’ve covered on this blog.

As part of this research, they’ve hosted a series of lectures on the topic, but the one I’ve chosen to share with you today is by Nobel prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz.  Stiglitz has covered this topic a lot over the past few years, focusing intently on the need to create a learning society.

In this lecture, he discusses the societal impact of new technologies, and how we can ensure that the transition to an AI age is as smooth as possible.  I hope you enjoy.
